What We Do

The Clearing Corporation provides a secure financial environment in which firms and individuals can conduct their business with confidence.  We have never experienced a default that resulted in a loss to the organization.  We are able to provide such stability by virtue of our strong economic base, formalized risk management policies, and the careful maintenance of a multi-tiered system of financial safeguards.

The Clearing Process

The clearing process begins with the execution of a trade through an electronic trading system such as the Eurex US trading platform. Once executed, the electronic trading system submits the transaction to The Clearing Corporation. Trade data is edited as soon as it is transmitted to the Clearing Corporation.  For a successful match to occur a sell must exist for every buy and all critical information required by the match process must correspond exactly between the two sides of the trade.  Trades are continuously matched throughout the day, which is a critical feature of our risk management policies.  Once a trade is matched The Clearing Corporation's guarantee takes effect with The Clearing Corporation acting as a buyer to every clearing particpant seller and the seller to every clearing particpant buyer.

Clearing reports are automatically transmitted to participant firms' computer systems and are made available on line for printing in their offices throughout the day.  Firms can also request trade status reports at any time or view the status of trades on-line.
