Customer Network Web Applications
|
The Clearing Corporation will offer all of its Web based applications through the new Customer Network. The current applications offered on the Web are Pay Collect, and Reports at BOTCC®. In addition, the ACT (Allocate & Claim Transactions) project scheduled for implementation on June 12, 2000, will only be a web based browser application, or API (Application Program Interface). Firms will have the option of accessing the Web applications from the Internet, or through the Customer Network. Firms that choose the Customer Network Extranet to access BOTCC's web offerings will experience better bandwidth, and a quicker response time.
Firms that access BOTCC's web offerings through the Customer Network will have to add static routes to one or more routers on their network. The static route will direct traffic destined for Clearing’s network to the interface of the router that Clearing has deployed at each member firm's site.
Member firms should not add name server entries for any of BOTCC’s resources as these addresses may change without warning. To resolve the fully qualified domain names (FQDN) for the web offerings listed above, member firms can add entries on their name servers or rely on BOTCC’s public name servers. A member firm does not have to make any changes in order for BOTCC’s public name servers to resolve names through the Internet. Clearing will provide a private name server that can be accessed through the Customer Network and will only contain the Clearing host names. A member firm can use BOTCC’s (juno.botcc.com) as a primary name server, a secondary name server, or as a name server forwarder. For detailed technical information regarding IP Addressing, Ports, and DNS names, contact the Business Systems Group.
