Member Firm Trade Submission Back-up Procedures & Survey
|
In our continuing effort to provide seamless trade submission capability to Member Firms, the Clearing Corporation would like to remind firms of the backup storage media procedures established by BOTCC® to submit trade data.
In the event that a firm’s system is not communicating with BOTCC, or BOTCC is having hardware communication problems, the following procedures should be used when delivering trade storage media to BOTCC.
• Contact Business Systems department at (312) 786-5712 for detailed storage media requirements
• Deliver trade storage media to the Board of Trade Clearing Corporation at 141 W. Jackson Blvd., Suite 1430.
• BOTCC will provide a preliminary test trade report of data submitted on backup media for firms to review prior to loading to production.
The following are acceptable media processes that can be submitted to BOTCC:
• Tape reel that must be either 1600 bpi or 6250 bpi (BOTCC no longer supports this option in our New York office. We would like to eliminate this medium in Chicago by mid-May unless it is deemed necessary by Member Firms)
• Cartridge that must be either 3480 or 3490. (please note that BOTCC is planning to eliminate 3480 cartridges as an option in the near future)
• PC Diskette that must be 3.5” HD
The data requirements for these media processes must provide trade data in the TREX record format. The file should also meet the following standards:
Reel Tape or Cartridge:
• Outside label specifying firm name, contact name and number, trade date, block size, record length, and record count.
• Non-labeled.
• Record length = must be equal or greater than 184 bytes.
• Block size = must be multiple of the record size.
• Record Format = fixed block.
PC Diskettes
• Outside label specifying firm name, contact name and number, trade date, file name, record length, and record count
• The record length must be equal or greater than 184 bytes.
• The file format should be ASCII text
Firms are encouraged to test these selected media with BOTCC. Please contact a Business Systems Analyst to schedule a test date.
Survey
BOTCC no longer accepts Reel Tapes in our New York office. We will eliminate this medium as a choice in Chicago on 5/13/00. To better judge what media processes BOTCC should use we are asking firms to complete the attached survey. Please fax the survey back to BOTCC at (312) 786-0152 or
e-mail it to bsg@botcc.com by Wednesday, May 10, 2000.
Should you have any questions, please call or e-mail one of the following Business Systems Analysts:
