Delayed Implementation of ACT 2.0
|
The implementation for ACT 2.0, which was to begin with phase 1 on October 19, 2001, has been delayed until Friday, November 2, 2001. It was determined ACT 2.0 would have a phased in approach to provide the least interruption to the back office and at the same time allow Clearing to ensure the stability and functionality of the system before adding additional transactions. Although the original announcement (Volume 21 – Bulletin #197, published on September 28, 2001) outlined the phased approach to ACT 2.0, there has been some confusion on what each phase includes and how firms can prepare for the implementation. Moving the implementation date to November 2, 2001 will provide time for clarifying the firm requirements for each phase, and help ensure that firms and their service providers are ready for the implementation by providing enough time for testing both the on-line application and the API messaging.
ACT 2.0 – Phase 1
WHAT IS NEW
• New generic screens to accommodate additional transaction types that will be implemented after Phase 1.
• Give-ups for EFP (and only EFPs) will switch from OTIS to ACT.
• Allocation and claims records for EFP give-ups will only be transmitted to the firms via the GAPI.
• New database structure that has no impact on user functionality.
WHAT STAYS THE SAME
• API messages for EFP allocation and claims will not change.
• GAPI messages generated for give-up EFPs will not change.
WHAT FIRMS SHOULD DO
• Attend one of the training classes (see Volume 21 – Bulletin #203 ). Additional classes are being scheduled. Check our web site for the most up to date information on classes.
• Plan to convert to the GAPI as the Real Time Feed of allocations and claims will not include EFP give-ups.
For additional information on ACT 2.0, refer to Volume 21 – Bulletin #197. Details on phase 2 of ACT 2.0 and when it will be implemented will be published in the near future.
