Expanded Format for Daily SPAN File
|
On January 24, 2003, the Clearing Corporation will debut an expanded version of the daily SPAN file for both CBOT and CBOT/OCC cross-margin products. Currently the Chicago Board of Trade notifies PC-SPAN users when new products are added to the SPAN file who then, in turn, may either manually update or download a new master file. The new expanded file introduces type “P” records, which contains parameters enabling PC-SPAN to automatically define new products, thereby eliminating the current reliance upon user intervention.
The expanded layout is being created at this time to support 3-(three) character product codes in the CBT/OCC cross-margin file, but it may also support product codes as large as 10 (ten) characters enhancing the current file’s 2-(two) character code limitation. Please note that the current daily SPAN file will still be available to those firms wishing to use the previous format.
It is recommended that testing be done in a test system since the expanded version automatically updates your Span organizational master file.
Should you wish to test the new Expanded Format of the Daily SPAN file or if you have any questions, please call or e-mail one of the following Client Services and Support Representatives:
