Final Phase of Mainframe Migration / New 3270 and Report Distribution Access
|
On Saturday, July 22, 2006, The Clearing Corporation (CCorp) will implement the final phase of the Mainframe Migration project by activating new versions of the OTIS and MIS applications within CCorp’s new distributed environment. Simultaneously, both Infopac and Document Direct will be decommissioned with the Web Report Distribution system, implemented in July 2005, replacing report distribution functionality.
Presently, CCorp users obtain access to these business applications via the host based 3270 communications protocol. To access these applications in the new environment firm users will need to use the new processes outlined in the following sections of this bulletin beginning Monday, July 24, 2006:
OTIS and MIS Access
To access the re-platformed OTIS and MIS applications, users will need to use a process that invokes a new 3270 emulator provided by CCorp. Please review and use the following steps to employ the new emulator:
• With the launch of the new emulator, new passwords for the OTIS and MIS applications have been created and assigned to each user. Please contact Client Service and Support at (312) 786-5718 to receive your new password.
• In order to utilize this application, users will need to have Java enabled on their browser, as in the past with previous versions of CCorp’s ‘3270 on the Web’ emulators.
• After receiving a new password and verifying that Java has been enabled, navigate to CCorp’s homepage located at www.clearingcorp.com.
• Once on the homepage, users need to click the ‘OTIS, ATOM, MIS on the Web’ link that appears on the left-hand side of the page within the ‘Applications’ section.
• After clicking on the link, users will be navigated to a web screen that details the installation and usage instructions for first time users. At this point, first time users should follow these instructions to assist them in installing the application and downloading the certificate file. Please note, firm users that have employed a previous version of CCorp’s ‘3270 via the Internet’ and have the appropriate certificate file saved onto their computer may bypass the first time instructions and can continue to access the emulator by clicking on the ‘OTIS, ATOM, MIS on the Web’ link.
• Once the certificate file has been downloaded, users can run the application by clicking on the ‘OTIS, ATOM, MIS on the Web’ link within the same page.
• After clicking the “OTIS, ATOM, MIS, on the Web’ link, a subsequent box will appear prompting to pass an object from WRQ, the vendor of the software product. Click ‘Yes’ to accept the object. A Java application is then passed onto the user’s machine, where it connects through a proxy to the Clearing Corporation host.
• At this point, the emulation should display the CCorp user sign-on page. Should you have any issues accessing the new emulation, please contact Client Services and Support @ (312) 786-5732.
To help prepare firm users with the move from the current mainframe environment to the new distributed environment, the new emulator is available on CCorp’s website and is running in parallel with the current production environment, thus, giving firm users the opportunity to verify system access, navigate and review application screens prior to the cutover date.
Web Report Distribution (WRD)
Additionally, the re-platforming of CCorp’s host based applications onto a distributed environment will also impact the report distribution applications: Infopac and Document Direct, which will both be discontinued. These applications will be replaced by Web Report Distribution (WRD), a new web based application that requires both Java and ActiveX controls enabled. WRD is accessible through the CCorp website via the ‘Login’ link by entering a current web user valid user ID and password. Once authenticated, the user will be navigated to a web application ‘Selection Menu’ where the user can select the WRD application. For more information on WRD, please refer to Volume 25 - Bulletin #035.
