MQM Best Practices

• With MQ Series being available on many different operating platforms, The Clearing Corporation is highly recommending that all MQ messages sent to us have the MQSTR format string set in the MQM detail header. This format string will allow the message to move from one platform to another while guaranteeing data integrity of the message. Due to the large number of MQ Series platforms available, this simple programming change will allow a seamless transition as the messages move through our network and yours.

• Whenever you have a SENDER channel with the status of INDOUBT it is always a good idea to use the RESOLVE WITH BACKOUT option. After the channel has successfully been resolved RESET THE SEQUENCE NUMBER for the channel and then issue the start channel command. If you retransmit any trades CCorp will be able to handle that and purge the duplicate trades.
*Note: This is only valid on a Sender Channel.
Using the RESOLVE WITH COMMIT option could result in lost
Data.

• All firms should have a trade recovery system that has the capability to retransmit some or all of their trades to CCorp.

• If you stop a SENDER channel with a force, before restarting it you will have to reset the GET ENABLED setting on the associated TRANSMISSION queue for that channel to Y. After the TRANSMISSION queue is set to Y the sender channel can be restarted again.

• Contact the Client Services and Support department at (312) 786-5700 for more information.
